America’s Best Large Employers 2022

In total, 1,000 employers were recognized across 25 different industry sectors. The evaluation was based on direct and indirect recommendations from respondents who were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employer to friends and family. Their evaluations reviews also included other employers in their respective industries that stood out either positively or negatively. Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to compile our list by surveying 60,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees.

Duke University Health System placed 17th out of 35 employers in the healthcare and social category.

Participants were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family, and to nominate organizations other than their own. The final list ranks the 500 large employers that received the most recommendations. In addition, 13 health care equipment and service companies made the best large employers list, including eight Advisory Board members. Forbes partnered with statistical research firm Statista for the survey, which asked employees from 25 industries questions about topics such as working conditions, salary, potential for development, diversity and company image. Participants were also asked to rate their willingness to recommend their employer to friends and family and evaluated other employers in their industry that stood out either positively or negatively.
